Ritonavir Description
Ritonavir is an orally potent inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus-1 (HIV-1) and human immunodeficiency virus-2 (HIV-2) aspartic protease, blocking the enzyme to produce morphologically mature HIV particles The required polyprotein, the HIV particles and thus remain in the immature state, thus slowing the spread of HIV in the cells to prevent a new round of infection and delay the development of disease. Ritonavir is well-tolerated against zidovudine-sensitive and zidovudine-resistant HIV strains.
